Management Committee

Nikolay Tomov is Chairman of the Management Committee at BULSIM since 2010. In 2016 Nikolay was elected for Board Director in the European Training and Simulation Association (ETSA).  Mr. Tomov is also a Member of the Management Board at the Cluster Aerospace Technologies, Research and Applications (CASTRA) since 2012 and heads CASTRA Academy for Space Education and Training. Nikolay is a Managing Director in Synergy Simulation – Bulgarian company, provider of advanced simulation and training solutions and services. In 2015 Nikolay started Integris Lab with focus on IT consultancy and cybersecurity. In 2017 he founded a company for maritime simulation and training named Innovative Maritime Solutions. Before starting his own business Nikolay has been holding various managing positions in international and local companies. Nikolay is the Faculty Advisor of the Bulgarian Students Team in NASA Simulation Exploration Experience project. Mr. Tomov received his M.Sc. Degree in Physics and Astronomy from the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University. Then he began his postgraduate study in the Space Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. During that period Nikolay was involved as a young scientist in various activities of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics and the Institute for Parallel Processing at BAS. Mr. Tomov is an author and co-author of publications in the field of computer assisted exercises, simulation, training, small satellites and project management. 

Col. Orlin Nikolov, Ph.D is Member of the Management Board since 2010. He graduated Military High School in 1991 and has a master degree from Military Academy (Sofia) and is an author of many articles and features in the Air Defense and Modeling and Simulations domain. Since 2017 Orlin has Ph.D on National and International Security. Orlin is member of the following NATO Modeling and Simulation Groups:

  • NMSG-068 in RTO: “NATO Education and Training Network – NETN”
  • NMSG 106: “Enhanced CAX architecture, design and methodology”
  • NMSG 134: “Distributed Simulation Architecture & Design, Compliance Testing and Certification”
  • Chair of NMSG 147 “M&S Support for Crisis and Disaster Management Processes and Climate Change Implications”

He participates in various projects as:

  • Establishment and development of National Center for Modeling and Simulation “Charalitza”
  • Establishment and development of Integrated System for M&S in the Bulgarian MoD
  • Project Manager in MoD for acquiring systems and tools for Education and Training for BAF (JCATS, VBS2, DITS, JEMM, JPECT, JEST, others)
  • Project Manager of Establishment and development of Crisis Management and Disaster Response Center of Excellence project
  • Project Manager of Establishment of South Eastern Europe Education and Training Network project
  • Project Manager of Investigate and assess M&S Decision Making Support and Data Analysis platform for Crisis Management, Disaster Response (CMDR) and Climate Change project
